Von den insgesamt ca. 1.200 gelieferten Lokomotiven stammen etwa 900 aus Deutschland, wobei O&K mit 632 Stück der Hauptlieferant war. Zusätzlich enthalten sind 160 Elektroloks und 8 Druckluftloks, die in Indonesien im Einsatz waren bzw. heute noch sind. (pas).

Früher als in den Niederlanden fuhren im damaligen Batavia bereits ab 1899 elektrische Straßenbahnen. Auch Surabaia hatte jahrelang eine elektrische Straßenbahn, es gelang ihr jedoch nie, die Dampfstraßenbahn zu verdrängen, so dass beide Traktionsformen jahrzehntelang zusammen existierten. H. J. A. Duparc hat beide Unternehmen hautnah erlebt.

Although the first mining railway was opened as early as 1849, 18 years before the first passenger carrying railway, it was not until 1899 that steam locomotives were employed. Several operations existed on Borneo and Sumatra. The crisis of 1929 meant a blow to the industry, but during the Japanese occupation a few more mines opened. (st).

Dieses Heft erschien anlässlich der Ankunft der „Bergkönigin“ im Eisenbahnmuseum. Dies ist der Spitzname einer von Werkspoor gebauten Mallet-Lokomotive, die 1928 bei den Staatsbahnen in Niederländisch-Ostindien in Dienst gestellt wurde. 1981 wurde die nun als CC 5022 bezeichnete Lokomotive dem Eisenbahnmuseum geschenkt. Die Broschüre behandelt auch die Geschichte der Eisenbahnen in Niederländisch-Ostindien bis zum Jahr 1949, als das Land unabhängig wurde. Mit vielen alten Fotos und zwei separaten Bahnkarten.
